Cross Country mountain bike racing (XC, XCO, XCC) is a complete test of bike riding skills and fitness. Action-packed and fun for all, races are relatively short and consist of multiple laps loaded with features such as technical climbs, rock-gardens, singletrack trails, roots, drop-offs and jumps.

SEQ Mountain Bike Series Round 1 - Underwood

South East Queensland XCO Mountain Bike Series

Round 1 of the 2022 South East Queensland XCO Winter Mountain Bike Series took place at Underwood over the weekend.

Underwood Park, Priestdale, Queensland played host to a superb round 1 of the Queensland Winter XCO Series. With an impressive 128 registered competitors the racing was intense across the various categories contested.

Underwood Park contains an XCO mountain bike circuit, skills area, trials area, dirt pump track, BMX track and a skate park. The trails are fast and flowing with technical sections keeping competitors on their toes. Underwood Park is open to the public most of the year, if you missed out on the event you can go and check out some of the trails in your own time.

A big shout goes out to all the volunteers who made the event possible and also to the Rats Cycling Club (http://www.ratscc.com.au/).

Sunday’s XCO (Cross Country) mountain bike race at Underwood

The elite mens race was fiercely contested and very tight with an outstanding win by Cameron Wright, eventually ending up with a gap of 26 seconds to second placed finisher Brent Rees.

In the elite Womens event, Shannon Petre won in style with almost 2 minutes to spare over runner up Imogen Smith.
